Ten times faster Wi-Fi on commuter trains as part of £90m upgrade
Commuters will soon experience faster Wi-Fi on trains, thanks in part to Network Rail’s poor performance.
£90m will go towards funding better Wi-Fi services on train routes across the country, with part of the costs funded by a fine imposed on Network Rail, the BBC reports.
The organisation which runs the country's rail network infrastructure is expected to be handed a record-breaking fine by the Office of Rail Regulation for poor service and missed targets.
The government will use the money to make train Wi-Fi up to 10 times faster within the next three to four years.
Commuter routes in the South and particularly into London are most likely to benefit from the upgraded internet service as the busiest lines will be targeted first.
