Ever since he quit his job at Barclays and began travelling the country on a fundraising campaign last year, speculation has mounted that Jeb Bush would make a run for President of the United States.

The brother of George W. Bush and son of George HW. Bush formally announced his campaign in Florida where he told an audience of his economic plan for growth and attempted to shake off his image as the GOP establishment choice.

Bush is the 11th Republican to throw his rat in the ring for the Republican nomination while other governors such as Bobby Jindal of Louisiana could follow.

In his announcement speech Bush claimed that he wanted to bring four per cent growth and 19m new jobs as president.

Bush said:

So many challenges could be overcome if we just get this economy growing at full strength. There is not a reason in the world why we cannot grow at a rate of four per cent a year.

And that will be goal as president – four per cent growth, and the 19m jobs that come with it. Economic growth that makes a difference for the hard-working men and women – who don't need reminding that the economy is more than the stock market.
