Panmure storms into the top five London advisors

Small cap specialist broker Panmure Gordon has broken into the top five City advisers chart this morning as financial data publisher Adviser Rankings unveiled its tenth annual corporate advisers rankings for 2015.

The firm soared five places up the table, jumping from tenth in 2014. Panmure also managed to hold onto its third place position for stockbroking.

The Adviser Rankings measure firms on their number of clients.

JP Morgan Cazenove has been dethroned as the only leader of two listings, having last year topped the financial adviser chart and the top stockbroker chart in terms of number of clients. The US bank now places third for financial advice and retains its lead in stockbroking.

Since Adviser Rankings began putting together its lists, new firms coming on to the stockbroking scene include Cenkos Securities, N+1 Singer, Liberum Capital, Cantor Fitzgerald and Barclays.

For financial advice, finnCap and Numis Securities tie for first place with 91 clients, while UBS are in first place by total market cap of clients.

JP Morgan Cazenove’s total financial advice client numbers have doubled in the past 10 years leaving them in third place, with Cenkos in fourth place after increasing their numbers twelve fold.

Slaughter & May is once again undisputed king of the law firms, despite its number of listed clients falling to 111, from 121 in 2014.

In the auditors division, KPMG retained its place at the top, growing its clients to 412 from 399 listed clients last year. KPMG kept its top spot despite becoming embroiled in a range of scandals in recent years. The big four accountant gave football organiser FIFA a clean financial bill of health for 16 years, and has faced calls to be investigated over its role in the 2008 HBOS collapse.
