The FA Cup: Midweek games and no replays proposed for tournament by Premier League powers
Football's oldest competition could be set for a major revamp to invigorate it for the modern era.
Proposals to adopt a format similar to the League Cup, by moving games to midweek and scrapping replays altogether, have been discussed by Premier League representatives and the FA according to reports.
The League Cup itself could also be set for a shake-up with plans for semi-finals to be played over one leg instead of two.

Any move to scrap replays could be resisted by lower league clubs who often benefit from the extra income afforded by ties against teams with huge stadiums, as matchday revenues are split evenly.
But the idea to shorten the tournament would be welcomed by Premier League giants who can sometimes find themselves competing on four fronts and the England national team who have long cited burnt-out players as one of the reasons for their struggles at major tournaments in the summer.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed his astonishment at the fixture list's demands on Premier League clubs, arguing they play "too many games" for the national team to succeed.
