A trainspotter’s paradise? This converted Great Northern railway station in Lincolnshire has gone on sale – and comes complete with a train and a section of track
What do you buy the trainspotter who has everything? How about their own station?
A converted Great Northern railway station in Rippingale, Lincolnshire, has been put up for sale by its owner.
For £600,000, not only do you get a three-bedroom house and 1.2 acres of land – but you'll also get a section of track, and your own train (well, engine). The 1924 steam locomotive, "Elizabeth", can be included in the sale, says the property's Rightmove listing.

The station, a "fine example of railway architecture", was built in 1872, but was closed in the 1960s as part of the Beeching branch line closures.
The home also has three bedrooms, five reception rooms and four cloakrooms – as well as a 30ft by 51ft engine shed, which comes complete with "the original railway goods office with fireplace [and] sub-floor storage". The listing suggests it "could be converted into separate dwellings".
It also include a brick and timber barn, a wooden summer house double garage and "further lawn and storage areas".
