Britain’s Andy Murray targets psychological edge in Grand Slams after reuniting with former coach Ivan Lendl
World No2 Andy Murray believes Ivan Lendl will give him a psychological edge during the crunch moments of grand slams after reuniting with his former coach.
Murray won Wimbledon, the US Open and Olympic gold during a two-year spell with Lendl between 2012 and 2014, and will work alongside the former world No1 during this week’s Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club.
“The most successful period of my career was while I was working with Ivan. I know what he can offer,” said Murray.
“He helped me psychologically in the major competitions and they’re obviously the events I’m trying to win and I’m competing for. I hope he can bring that same experience and those same benefits that he did last time.”
Murray is set to begin his Aegon Championships defence against France’s Nicolas Mahut on Tuesday as he seeks a record fifth Queen’s Club title.
