Bankers in this specialism take home the biggest pay packet
Banking is known to be one of the best-paying sectors in the UK – but which specialism you go into has a huge effect on the amount you'll take home at the end of each month.
If you're considering a change of direction, you could do a lot worse than check out this chart, compiled by Statista for Morning Wire using figures from salary benchmarking site Emolument.com.
The figures suggest those working in investment banking take home by far the biggest pay packets at the end of the month, with both structurers and traders in the sector making more than £600,000 a year.

That's followed by origination bankers, whose combined salary and bonuses equate to a hefty £500,000, while those working in fundraising for hedge funds and asset managers make £340,000.
Of course, that's before Brexit takes its toll. The British Bankers' Association (BBA) has warned that unless the UK can get a good deal on passporting (which we have explained in detail here) in its negotiations, banks may hold back on hiring – although it has since added that until a firm deal has been announced, it will be business as usual for the UK's lenders.
