Southern Rail is still running its services based on the strike timetable

Commuters may have breathed a sigh of relief yesterday, when the Southern Rail strike was called off – but it actually hasn't made much of a difference to service today.

The rail company said this morning that it is still running services based on its strike timetable.

Today's service will be based on the strike timetable and we aim to add additional services later today. Plan ahead https://t.co/AZeIm9asMg

Southern said it hope to add trains on additional routes later in the day, and may operate later than usual.

⚠ Strike timetable remains in place. We are working to introduce trains on additional routes and operate extended hours where possible

Meanwhile, passengers hoping to take refuge in the (relative) comfort of first class will be disappointed – the rail firm has 'declassified' carriages across all its services today.

First class has been declassified across all our services today. 1st tkt holders can claim back the difference via https://t.co/nE6IR4ZZLQ

Southern had planned to strike all week, with industrial action kicking off on Monday. However, yesterday the Acas union said the strike had been called off to allow for fresh negotiations to take place.
