Feeling peckish? You can now get a Just Eat takeaway delivered by a robot
The robots are coming. But wait, only to deliver your takeaway.
Just Eat has teamed up with Starships Technologies to deliver its first takeaway meal by a robot.
It follows five months of "exhaustive testing" in Greenwich, and the pilot programme will see local customers in the area received automated deliveries
So fear not if you see a determined looking robot wheeling its way past you – it's probably only a Just Eat delivery. And the takeaway company has plans to roll out the programme across London next year.

The lucky customer who got to test it out placed an order at her local Turkish restaurant in Greenwich, the manager requested a robot make the delivery. The customer received a text to let her know the order was on the way (with a robot) and then another with a unique link to open the cargo hold of said robot.
Graham Corfield, UK managing director at Just Eat, said:
We are delighted to add robot home delivery to the Just Eat service.
We have been working closely with Starship Technologies for many months to ensure that we can seamlessly integrate this exciting technology with our restaurants partners, customers and online booking service.
Now that we are live in Greenwich, we’re working towards a larger roll-out of the pilot program across London in the New Year.
The takeaway giant announced its plans to look into robot deliveries back in July with Starship Technologies, which has designed and manufactured the six-wheel pavement droid.
Alas, customers will not be able to elect for robot delivery but Greenwich residents who order a takeaway online through Just Eat will increasingly be serviced by the tech as the programme is rolled out.
