Ski season triggers rush to book private jet mountain getaways
Private charter airlines are cashing in on Brits jetting off for the start of the ski season.
So far this ski season there has been a 46 per cent increase in bookings from the UK to charter jets to airports with transfers to some of Europe’s most expensive and popular ski resorts such as Verbier and St Mortiz, according to data from Magnus Aviation, a private jet charter business.
Flights to Innsbruck airport in Austria are up 19 per cent compared to last year.
“The ski season in Europe is one of the busiest times of the year for us,” said Magnus Aviation’s James Armstrong. “Around 21 per cent of all business aircraft chartered through us is linked to this.”
The boost for skiing holiday private flights comes amid rising demand generally for the sector. In the first 10 months of this year around 89,500 business aircraft departed the UK, up around 1.2 per cent on the year before.
