Uber is looking for a woman to fill its new chief operating officer position
Uber is reportedly searching for a female executive to join the firm as its new chief operating officer and help rein in under-fire boss Travis Kalanick.
The ride-hailing app announced a new position which could be viewed as either the best or worst job in tech last week after recent troubles pushed Kalanick to search for someone to keep the company in check and reset its reputation.
Headhunter Heidrick & Struggles was hired to find a candidate for the role, and Uber is thought to be keen on hiring a woman, though that's not obligatory, the Times reported.
Helena Foulkes, a senior executive at the pharmacy chain CVS is thought to be a potential candidate.
Uber has come under fire after a female ex-engineer wrote about her experience of sexual harassment at the company. Former attorney general Eric Holder and the firm's only female board member, Arianna Huffington, are investigating the claims.
The firm is also facing a lawsuit from Google's self-driving car business Waymo amid accusations that a company it acquired, Otto, stole trade secrets and infringed patents.
It's also recently been revealed the firm used a secret technology to avoid regulators, which has now been banned.
Kalanick was recently forced to apologise and admit he needs to "fundamentally change as a leader and grow up" after he was caught yelling at an Uber driver.
