Two House of Fraser distribution centres have reopened

Two of House of Fraser's distribution centres have re-opened after a dispute with its logistics provider resulted in customer orders being cancelled.

The sites in Wellingborough and Milton Keynes have re-opened today, Drapers reported. This follows a weeks-long standoff with XPO Logistics, which owns and operates the warehouses.

Earlier this week, The Times reported that Mike Ashley turned up in person to hold crisis talks with the company after his company Sports Direct bought House of Fraser out of administration two weeks ago.

XPO has been left at least £30m out of pocket by the collapse of House of Fraser. It has also emerged this week that 627 jobs at the warehouses are at risk after staff were put on consultation last week.

The dispute with House of Fraser led to the department store taking its website offline at one point, while many customers were warned that their orders had been cancelled due to the disruption.

Mike Ashley has vowed to turn House of Fraser into the 'Harrods of the high street', and is planning to shake up the range of brands on offer.

But with major names such as Mulberry losing money on the administration of the business, the tycoon could face an uphill battle convincing suppliers to get on board.
