Uber shells out $148m to settle cyber attack legal case
Taxi giant Uber has had to pay out $148m (£113m) to settle a legal case over a recent cyber attack.
The 2016 breach led to the information of 57m customers and drivers being exposed. Uber paid the hackers $100,000 to delete the data they had taken from the company's servers.
The data included information such as the number plates of around 600,000 drivers.
It settle the case which was brought against Uber by the US government and 50 states across the country.

Last November, Uber admitted it should have been more transparent about the attack with its customers and drivers.
"None of this should have happened, and I will not make excuses for it," said Uber boss Dara Khosrowshahi at the time.
Uber has also promised to ensure a data breach like this never happens again, and said it would submit regular reports to regulators.
