Publishing giant Conde Nast has named Roger Lynch as its first global chief executive as the company merges its US and international operations.

Lynch, the former boss of US streaming service Pandora Radio, will also join the firm’s board when he assumes the role on 22 April.

The appointment comes after long-standing boss Bob Sauerberg announced he will step down after 18 years at the company.

Conde Nast has since been looking for a new executive to lead its global operations amid a tie-up between its US and international divisions

Board chairman Jonathan Newhouse said: “Roger is a transformative leader with significant international experience and a proven track record building companies at the evolving intersection of media and technology.

“His strong business acumen, relevant experience, and ability to unite a team around a common purpose to drive results make him a clear choice for our next chief executive.”

Before heading up Pandora, Lynch was a founding chief executive of US video streaming platform Sling TV, and has held a string of other high-profile roles in the media industry.

As part of the restructuring process, Newhouse has been appointed chairman of the board of directors and will relinquish his position as chief executive of Conde Nast International.

Earlier this year Conde Nast revealed plans to launch Vogue Business, a new business magazine aimed at professionals in the fashion and luxury industries.

The publisher has said it will put all its online titles behind a paywall in the US by the end of the year as part of an overhaul of its business model.
