National Enquirer sold to US magazine distributor
US tabloid newspaper The National Enquirer, which admitted paying hush money to get President Donald Trump elected, has been sold to James Cohen, the chief executive of Hudson Media.
The weekly tabloid, which was also accused of allegedly trying to blackmail Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has been sold by American Media Inc (AMI) for a reported $100m.

AMI said last week that it was looking at “strategic options” for the National Enquirer and the Globe and National Examiner brands.
The sale to the head of Hudson Media, whose family used to own the Hudson chain of airport news stands, is expected to reduce AMI’s debt to $355m.

Last week, the New York Times reported that owners of the National Enquirer were in talks to sell the tabloid to the California-based billionaire Ronald Burkle.
Paul Pope, one of the heirs of the National Enquirer founder Generoso Pope Jr, had also been in the list of bidders, according to media reports.
