A 48-hour DLR strike will go ahead this Thursday
The DLR will be hit by a 48-hour strike on Thursday after members of the RMT union voted in favour of industrial action over pay and working conditions.
The strike will begin at 5.30am on Thursday (15 October) and end at the same time on Saturday (17 October).
Security and cleaning staff are striking over a pay dispute which new management company Interserve has failed to address, they claim. It's the fourth strike to take place on the service as a result of the dispute.
It's understood the strike will not have any effect on services.
Our members working for Interserve on Docklands Light Railway know just how crucial it is that they stand firm and demand that the Company stops dragging its heels and responds to the union with an offer to resolve this dispute including a decent pay increase for all staff and the proper application of our long-standing agreements. These workers do some of the dirtiest jobs on the transport system and their demand for pay justice should be supported across this City. The union remains available for talks," said RMT boss Mick Cash.
Another vote on strike action is taking place in a separate dispute over pay and could result in another round of strikes going ahead.
