Amazon to stock iPhones for Christmas after promise to clamp down on fake Apple products

Parents or partners of Apple fans will be able to turn to Amazon this Christmas to buy the latest iPhone for their loved ones.

In the next few weeks, the online retail giant will start selling iPhones and iPads in the US, Europe, Japan and India, expanding its previously limited range of Apple products.

However, customers wanting to buy an Apple Home Pod, the rival to Amazon's Echo, will have to look elsewhere.

Until now, Amazon has only carried Mac computers and Beats headphones.

But Apple, keen to tap into the Amazon’s massive reach, has signed a deal with the retailer in time for the Christmas period, amid promises of a clampdown on counterfeit goods.

Amazon has said that from January it will take down any Apple products sold by third parties which do not have the iPhone maker’s seal of approval.

“We’re working with Amazon to improve the experience for Apple customers on their site and we look forward to those customers having another great way to buy iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and more,” Apple said in a statement.
