Amazon Studios acquires North American rights to Woody Allen’s upcoming film starring Blake Lively and Kristen Stewart and his new TV show with Miley Cyrus
Amazon Studios has today acquired the North American rights to Woody Allen's latest feature film.
Amazon Studios has obtained all the rights for the region, including theatrical and streaming.
The film, which does not yet have a title, is a romantic comedy set in the 1930s starring Blake Lively and Kristen Stewart and is due to be released in cinemas this summer.
Following its run in cinemas, the film will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime members via Prime Video.
As well as the film, Allen is also creating a six-episode television series for Amazon, which will star Miley Cyrus.
"Woody Allen is a brilliant filmmaker," said Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios. "We’re so proud to be in business with him for both his next film and his first ever TV series."
"Like all beginning relationships, there is much hope, mutual affection, and genuine goodwill – the lawsuits come later," said Allen.
Amazon Studios, which launched in 2010, already has a number of critical successes under its belt, including Emmy-winning Transparent.
The Studio first started an initiative to produce and acquire original movies in 2015, with its first film release being Spike Lee's Chi-Raq.
