Andab could be Talk of New York on Sussex Downs

In-form Joseph O'Brien saddles Andab in the HKJC World Pool Thoroughbred Stakes

WE WILL take an early look at tFriday’s card where TALK OF NEW YORK is a hot favourite to win the Group Three HKJC World Pool Thoroughbred Stakes (2.25pm).

This son of Wootton Bassett was an excellent third to Bow Echo and Gstaad in the Group One St James’s Palace Stakes last month.

That form would be easily strong enough to win this, but in the World Pool Quinella market I’m going to pair him with Joseph O’Brien’s ANDAB at what will likely be a big price.

He travelled really well in the Jersey Stakes last time out but was drawn on the wrong side of the track.

He still finished first in his group, though, and the return to this mile trip will help, while blinkers replace the visor he wore last time.

I’ll have a small bet in the World Pool Win and Place markets as well as the Quinella.

INDALO has been handed a good draw in stall six in the valuable Coral Golden Mile (3.00pm).

All three of his starts this season have been excellent, culminating last time in a deserved win at Sandown.

He is likely to go off near enough favourite, but he is an improving type and is worth backing with World Pool.

Finally, CHARGING THUNDER looks the value call in the opening Coral Goodwood Handicap (1.50pm) over two-and-a-half miles for James Owen.

He’s down to a mark of 86 having been as high as 99 earlier in his career, but he bolted up over hurdles at Stratford last time and will relish this test of stamina on quick ground.
