Apple’s App Store and iTunes introduces UK no-questions-asked 14-day refund guarantee
European users of iTunes, the App Store and iBook who find they've accidentally downloaded a rubbish song or boring movie are now entitled to a no questions asked 14-day money back guarantee.
Apple has updated its terms and conditions giving customers 14 days to return purchases excluding gift-cards according to 9to5mac.com.
The changes, which apply to users in the UK, Germany, Italy, France and many other EU countries, appear to bring the company in line with European Union regulations.
EU guidelines set out in June give customers to a "right of withdrawal" from off-premises contracts within 14 days or purchase and without providing a reason.
The tech giant's terms and conditions now state:
Right of cancellation: If you choose to cancel your order, you may do so within 14 days from when you received your receipt without giving any reason, except iTunes Gifts which cannot be refunded once you have redeemed the code.
Customers who give notice of a cancellation through its Report a Problem feature or a written statement will be refunded within two weeks.
Previously purchases were pretty much final with the exception of a few cases handled by customer support.
Refunds for failed downloads were decided on an individual case basis and Apple also reserved the right to reject any such applications for content which had already been downloaded.
