Apple recalls 15in Macbook Pro over battery fire risk
Apple has announced a recall of some of its 15-inch Macbook Pro laptops over a battery fire risk.

The company said that a limited number of its old generation Pro series, sold between September 2015 and February 2017, contained batteries that “may overheat and pose a safety risk”.
Apple has advised customers using affected 15-inch MacBook Pro units to stop using the machine immediately.
The company in a statement said the customers could check for product eligibility and how to have a battery replaced through its website using the serial number of their device.
The serial number can be found by clicking on the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen and choosing “About this Mac”.
“Because customer safety is a top priority, Apple is asking customers to stop using affected units,” said Apple.
The company said the issue has been fixed in the latest models, released in 2019.
Customers are advised to exchange the faulty product free of charge.
Apple’s Mac division generated $5.5bn (£4.3bn) in sales revenue in the firm’s most recent quarter, down from $5.8bn in the same quarter previous year.

Apple recalled some of its AC wall plugs in April.
It said the plugs, shipped with Mac and specific iOS devices between 2003 and 2010, could break and cause electric shocks if touched.
