Apple to reveal new iPads and OS X Yosemite at event next month

Apple, apparently not content with two new iPhones, its first smart watch, and trolling iTunes users with a U2 album, could be set to unveil two new iPads next month.

The tech giant will announce the sixth iteration of the iPad, the third version of the iPad Mini, and OS X Yosemite, the latest Mac operating system, at an event next month.

Last week, the company announced the arrival of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus as well as the Apple Watch, the company's first experiment with wearable tech. The iPhones will hit UK stores this Friday, but people will have to wait until next year before the Apple Watch becomes available.

According to reports from The Daily Dot, who cite "sources familiar with the matter", Apple will host its next event on 22 October when it will reveal the new iPads and operating system.

Bloomberg have suggested that the new iPad will be 12.9 inches diagonally and have a 9.7 inch screen, while the iPad mini is said to have a 7.9 inch screen.

Apple will be hoping to replicate the early success of the iPhone 6 with any new products. The company says its new phones have recorded record pre-orders for an iPhone, with over 4m pre-orders made within 24 hours.

It seems as if the iPhone 6 will live up to the hype too, with early reviews heaping praise upon the “bigger, thinner, faster, brighter” product.
