Apple’s British designer Jony Ive gets a job promotion to chief design officer
Sir Jony Ive, the British designer behind many of Apple’s best known products, has been promoted by the technology giant.
The man responsible for the appearance of devices like the iPod and iPhone will now be Apple’s chief design officer. He was previously the senior vice president for design.
Ive worked closely with Apple founder Steve Jobs, and has increased his influence on the Silicon Valley company since Jobs’ death from pancreatic cancer in 2011.
Ive’s promotion at the world’s most valuable company was revealed in the Telegraph by comedian and Apple fanatic Stephen Fry.
Richard Howarth will now be promoted to head of industrial design, while Alan Dye will be head of user interface.
