Arsenal and Manchester United distance themselves from European Super League and Champions League breakaway rumours
Arsenal and Manchester United have distanced themselves from reports linking them with plans to form a European Super League.
Representatives from Arsenal, United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have been pictured outside the Dorchester Hotel in London, where they were reported to have discussed plans to breakaway from the Champions League.

However, Arsenal said the meeting focused on the format of the Champions League and the pre-season International Champions Cup (ICC) tournament organised by American billionaire Stephen Ross and the New York-based Relevent Sports firm.
"We are strongly opposed to any breakaway," said an Arsenal spokesman.
"Not Arsenal, nor any clubs at the meeting, are seeking changes to the Premier League and European landscape and no conversations surrounding displacing the Premier League or starting a European Super League took place.
"Discussions were primarily around the ICC and formats of European competitions that would compliment the existing Premier League."
According to The Times, Manchester United also say they are against any breakaway from European competition.
