Ashes 2015: England’s Stuart Broad pockets £2,500 prize money as player of the match

England regained the Ashes in spectacular fashion on the third morning of the fourth Test at Trent Bridge, earning a £12,000 bonus in the process.

In just 39 minutes, the hosts took the three second innings wickets they needed to secure an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the series.

Ben Stokes and Mark Wood took the wickets, but it was Stuart Broad's performances earlier in the Test which helped him earn the £2,500 player of the match award to add to his £12,000 Test fee from the England and Wales Cricket Broad (ECB).

The Nottingham-born bowler took an incredible 8-15 on the first innings as Australia were bowled out for 60. 

He joins Joe Root and Steven Finn as winner's of the Investec prize for best player in a Test at this year's Ashes.

All three will surely be in contention for the £4,000 player of the tournament award and will have enjoyed their share of the £21,000 handed to England for each Test match win.

As England regulars the trio all earn £650,000 from their central contract with the ECB.

Broad's shocked hand-to-mouth expression summed up the feelings of the nation and quickly became the defining image of the match and celebrated with the #OhMyBroad hashtag on Twitter.
