Au revoir to Verona and Kuala Lumpur as Air France scraps flights
Air France is chopping three European routes as part of £58m worth of cost-cutting measures in an attempt to restructure the flag carrier.
The airline, part of Air France-KLM and the SkyTeam alliance, said it was cutting flights to the loss-making destinations of Stravanger in Norway, Verona in Italy and Vigo in Spain from September this year.
As part of the restructure it is also halting flights to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
It will also reduce the frequency or capacity of flights on other routes, including those to Japan, Brazil and Russia.
As part of an investment review Air France may decide to delay the delivery of two new types of long-haul aircrafts, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787, as well as the early retirement of a third A340 because of its poor fuel economy.
The airline was impacted by air traffic controller strikes in April.
