Battersea Power Station to put Frank Gehry and Norman Foster flats on sale

 

Hundreds of homes designed by renowned architects Norman Foster and Frank Gehry will go on sale at Battersea Power Station this month, the owners revealed yesterday, with prices starting at £495,000.

 

Gehry Partners and Foster + Part­ners have designed two schemes for the third phase of development at Battersea Power Station, with 1,305 flats on either side of a new high street forming the gateway to the iconic Thames-side building. 

 

The first 539 homes will be offered to UK buyers from 24 October before being launched overseas a week later in a bid to at­tract retailers, restaurants and office tenants to the site. 

 

 

Prices range from £495,000 studios, £590,000 for a one-bedroom flat and £3.2m for a four-bedroom apartment. There are also two-bedroom apartments from £1.2m and three-bedroom apartments from £1.9m. 

 

“This launch is a very special residential offering… the designs from Foster + Partners and Gehry Partners are unique amongst other London developments and will be extremely creative and exciting places for people to live in,” Rob Tincknell, chief executive of Battersea Power Station Development Company said. 

 

Foster, who was behind the Gher­kin, has designed a single wave-like building called The Skyline that will stretch along the length of the high street. Gehry’s part, five buildings called Prospect Place, is anchored by a flower-shaped building. 

 

It is the third lot of homes to be put up for sale and comes after 254 flats inside the former power station were launched to the public in May. The 39-acre scheme will eventually have a total of 3,400 homes.
