BBC awards £150m contract to construction company Interserve
Support service and construction group Interserve has been awarded a £150m, five year facilities management contract with the BBC. (Release)
The contract will see the group working at over 150 facilities across the UK, including Broadcasting House, MediaCityUK in Salford and all other BBC operational sites.
Interserve will be responsible for 26 services ranging from broadcast engineering to implementation of a new workplace support model, designed to maximise creativity within the organisations' different operating environments.
Around 1,100 employees will transfer to Interserve from existing providers.
The contract continues the relationship between the BBC and Interserve, which has been working on construction for the broadcaster since 2006, delivering about £40m of projects to date.

This will ensure our buildings – both old and new – are places which foster creativity, helping people deliver their best, most creative work, and which are welcoming and open to audiences. This will ultimately deliver quality and best value to licence fee payers.
