Best and worst ski currencies: Head to Canada or Norway’s slopes to get the best value for your pounds, but avoid Sweden and the US dollar
Planning a ski holiday? Choosing the right slopes can make a difference to the tune of hundreds of pounds.
If you want your holiday pounds to go furthest, avoid the US and Sweden – but those heading to Canada and Norway will be far better off.
Sterling is up against six of the most popular “ski currencies” according to currency business Centtrip, with the pound worth 13.6 per cent more against the Canadian dollar than it was a year ago, and over eight per cent more against the Norwegian krone.
In other words, holidaymakers spending £1,000 in these countries are better off to the tune of £119 and £77.5 respectively, against what they would’ve had last year.
Meanwhile, those heading for Vail, Aspen or other US slopes are losing £69 against what their spending value would’ve been last year.
The strong US dollar has gained 6.5 per cent against the pound over the year.
