Black Cab drivers are planning another Uber protest between Trafalgar Square and TfL’s office on Victoria Street

Black Cab drivers are planning another protest against Transport for London and its regulation of private hire vehicles (PHV), specifically Uber. 

The demonstration, organised by United Cabbies Group, is scheduled to take place between Trafalgar Square and TfL's home on Victoria Street, will take place on 10 February from 2:30pm to 4pm. 

"No retreat. No surrender. Enough is enough," the taxi drivers' group said in its poster publicising the event.

It is not known how many drivers will take part in the protest – but it appears as though Liverpool-based cabbies will be joining their London colleagues.

United Cabbies Group claims that TfL – which last month published a set of proposals regarding future legislation for PHVs, which did not include the controversial five-minute ruling – is not "pursuing a policy of public safety" because it is not carrying out sufficient checks on PHV drivers.

As a result it is overseeing "increased risk to women's safety" and that it has a "total lack of accountability [for] the increasing number of sexual assaults committed by PHV drivers". 

It also claims there is an increase in pollution and congestion because of the rise of PHV cars on the road.
