French manufacturing sector misses expectations in July

The French manufacturing sector has just missed expectations in July, as Markit's purchasing manager's index came in at just 49.7 from 48.4 last month.

Analysts had been forecasting a rise to 49.8. The good news is that French manufacturing output has risen for the first time in 17 months.
