Political blogger Guido Fawkes has arrived at the BBC's Broadcasting house to deliver a petition demanding the reinstatement of Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson.

Always one for drama, Guido traveled in style to hand in the petition, driving to the BBC in tank. An occasionally fierce critic of the Beeb, Guido has been backing Clarkson from the outset of his suspension following a "fracas" with a producer.

The online petition supporting Clarkson is within a whisker of reaching one million signatures. The tank arrived at BBC headquarters driven by none other than Top Gear's own Stig (or at least someone dressed like him). The tank, or more accurately "self-propelled gun", was reported to have broken down several times but has since been repaired.

Last night, the Top Gear presenter told a charity event in he thinks will be sacked after launching a scathing attack on BBC management. Clarkson is reported to have called BBC execs a bunch of "f*****g b*****s".

Clarkson is alleged to have punched producer Oisin Tymon for bringing him a cold supper instead of a steak. The BBC's internal investigation into the incident will be given to the director general next week.

"Once this has been considered, we will set out any further steps", said a BBC spokesman. "The BBC will not be offering further commentary until then".  As one of the Beeb's most popular shows, Top Gear reaches an estimated global audience of 350m
