Bournemouth 1, West Ham United 3: Hammers home in on top four as Valencia finds scoring touch
A second-half double from striker Enner Valencia secured West Ham’s third consecutive Premier League victory and fired the Hammers to within a point of a Champions League place.
Valencia scored his first goals since February, adding to Dimitri Payet’s stunning free-kick in the second period as West Ham turned the tide on Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, who had led at half-time through midfielder Harry Arter.
The return from injury of Valencia and Payet in recent weeks has proven a huge tonic for the east London club, although it was not unbridled joy for boss Slaven Bilic, who saw Andy Carroll forced off after 15 minutes with a leg injury.
But having found their winning groove having previously drawn five on the spin, West Ham moved above Manchester United to fifth after equalling a club record eight-match unbeaten Premier League run.
