British No1 Andy Murray parts company with Amelie Mauresmo as coach count set to reach double figures

Britain's Andy Murray is on the hunt for the 10th coach of his career after parting company with Amelie Mauresmo by mutual consent.

The duo have worked together for the past two years, during which time world No3 Murray has won seven titles, including his first two on clay, but failed to add to his haul of two grand slam crowns.

“I’ve learned a lot from Amelie over the past two years,” said Murray. “She’s been a calming influence in the team and we’ll miss having her around.

“I’d like to thank her for everything she has done, she has been an invaluable member of the team. I will take some time to consider the next steps and how we progress from here.”

Former world No1 Mauresmo, who was absent on maternity leave for much of last year after giving birth to her first child in August, remains captain of France’s Fed Cup team and has cited pressing demands on her time as a reason for the split.

“Dedicating enough time along with the travel has been a challenge for me,” said Mauresmo. “I wish him and his team well and I hope he goes on to win many more titles.”
