Spreadex, represented here by head of marketing Andy MacKenzie, and Burnley, whose captain Ben Mee is pictured, have agreed a one-year deal

Burnley have signed up spread betting and financial trading platform Spreadex as their main shirt sponsor for next season.

The one-year deal will see the company’s sports fixed odds and spread betting arm, Spreadex Sports, replace Chinese brand LoveBet as principal partner.

Spreadex is understood to be paying slightly less than LoveBet, whose £7.5m deal included the additional element of shirt sleeve sponsorship.

“We are thrilled Spreadex has chosen Burnley Football Club for their first sports partnership,” said Ella Cummins, Burnley FC’s Head of Commercial Partnerships.

“We look forward to working together over the coming season on some exciting campaigns.”

Spreadex chief executive Dave MacKenzie said: “We are delighted to join the Burnley FC family as main sponsor at an exciting time in both the club’s and our own futures.

“This deal reflects the ambitious growth plans Spreadex has as a company, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with a superbly-run club with such an established history and reputation.”

Burnley signed AstroPay as a new sleeve partner this month. The value of that deal combined with the Spreadex agreement is understood to be roughtly equivalent to the £7.5m paid by LoveBet for both assets.

Since completing a takeover at the end of last year, Burnley owners ALK Capital have shaken up one of the Premier League’s most traditional clubs.

They have launched a global talent search using an artificial intelligence-led app and struck a deal with TikTok that will see all Burnley Women’s home games shown on the social media platform.

As part of their deal, Burnley and Spreadex have pledged to donate £5 each to Alzheimer’s Society for every third shirt sold.

Burnley are set for their sixth consecutive season in the English top flight, having finished 17th last term.

The club are due to launch their new kits later this week and wear them for the first time on 24 July in a pre-season friendly against Oldham Athletic.
