Canary Wharf has been taken over by big hitters in this year’s Squash Classic
Some of the world’s best squash players are descending on the Docklands this week for the 13th annual Canary Wharf Squash Classic.
Held in the East Wintergarden, 16 international champions will face off in a week-long tournament, part of a series of competitions in the Professional Squash Association Tour.
Spectators are welcome from all over, and even Canary Wharf's bankers are getting stuck in with an interbank tournament later this week.
Last year saw British big hitter and three-time world champion Nick Matthew take home the trophy, making it his fifth time winning in Canary Wharf. He's not competing this time, but keep your eyes out for last year's rival in the finals Daryl Selby. The Essex-born hopeful is already looking forward to getting stuck into the competition.
Selby is clearly a big fan of this event, telling fans on Twitter ahead of his first game that "if Carslberg did squash tournaments", it would be this one. High praise indeed.
