LIVERPOOL defender Jamie Carragher believes new Kop idol Luis Suarez is the key to ensuring the Merseysiders challenge Manchester United’s supremacy.

Carragher claims Liverpool, whose form since the appointment of Kenny Dalglish as manager has catapulted them to the brink of qualifying for next season’s Europa League, have a player in Suarez who is capable of helping them bridging the gap.

“The only way of us getting back on top is winning titles, not relying on others,” he said. “Suarez has proved he’s going to be a real player for Liverpool, not just between now but for years to come.”
