Cathay Pacific chair John Slosar resigns amid Hong Kong controversy
The chairman of Cathay Pacific John Slosar has stepped down from his role and will be replaced by Patrick Healy.
The Hong-based airline has been embroiled in controversies relating to the widespread pro-democracy protests in the city and has come under pressure from Chinese authorities to suspend staff who participate in the demonstrations.

Slosar’s resignation follows that of its chief executive Rupert Hogg and chief customer and commercial officer Paul Loo.
Hogg tendered his resignation after the carrier fired four members of staff for joining protests in Hong Kong.
Slosar said his resignation was due to retirement and that he was “not aware of any disagreement with the board of the company”.
He became Cathay chairman in March 2014, having previously served as the airline’s director, chief operating officer and chief executive.

Healy, his replacement, has served at the top of the airline’s major shareholder Swire Pacific.
He will replace Slosar in November.
