Celebrate Mother’s Day with a luxurious high tea

LANDMARK LONDON
The grand Marylebone hotel is well-known for its splendidly lavish Sunday brunch buffet served in the vast atrium of the Winter Garden, with everything from pastries and salads to roast dishes, and a sweeping array of desserts topped off with a chocolate fountain. As an added treat for Mother’s Day, you can mix such indulgence with some serious relaxation in the form of a complimentary day pass for the Spa and Health Club. £75 per person for brunch, spa pass included (£22 for those under 13 years old). www.landmarklondon.com

HAYMARKET HOTEL
At this chic West End boutique, close to Trafalgar Square, you can pop along to the hotel’s Brumus restaurant for the Mother’s Day afternoon tea, which includes a glass of Veuve, strawberries, chocolate tiffin, and coronation chicken sandwiches. Alternatively, check in with your mum over the weekend and enjoy afternoon tea on Saturday and a sumptuous English breakfast in the morning. £30 per person for afternoon tea; from £295 for overnight stays. www.haymarkethotel.co.uk

TEN MANCHESTER STREET
A relative newcomer to London’s boutique hotel scene and a favoured bolthole of those in the know, Marylebone’s Ten Manchester Street is a short walk from Oxford Street. The spiffing high tea is perfect for weary shoppers needing a bit of cosy sanctuary – we particularly recommend the fresh scones and clotted cream – and includes a glass of chilled champers and a chocolatey gift for mums. £30 per person. www.tenmanchesterstreethotel.com

THE BOTANIST
Now that Oriel is no more, The Botanist, just across the road, is Sloane Square’s place for ladies to sit, sip champagne, and compare shopping bags from the Sloane Street and King’s Road boutiques. So you may as well do just that with your Mum. Sunday’s afternoon tea includes sandwiches, scones, sweets and cakes, and a choice between a luxurious hot chocolate or glass of fizz. Alternatively, lunch includes a glass of champagne and dishes like roasted beetroot and apple salad, fillet of golden bream and bitter chocolate mousse with red wine kirsch cherry jelly. Champagne afternoon tea £25; hot chocolate afternoon tea £18; three course lunch with glass of champagne £38. www.thebotanistonsloanesquare.com

BRASSERIE JOEL
Acclaimed French chef Joel Atunes opened his new restaurant in the Westminster Park Plaza on South Bank last year, where it’s been winning fans of fine French food. Sunday Brunch this weekend includes a complimentary gift for mums from the hotel’s newly opened, Bali-inspired spa plus a 15 per cent discount voucher for a treatment of her choice, along with yummy dishes like chicken liver parfait, traditional fish pie or a whole roast chicken for the family to share. Sunday lunch from £29.95 for three courses. www.brasseriejoel.co.uk

THE LANGHAM
Indulge her with the Overnight Package in the Grand Room of one of London’s most famous hotels, just off Oxford Street. This takes in Mother’s Day afternoon tea in the stunning Palm Court (which some claim is where the afternoon tea concept originated) and a spa treatment in the hotel’s recently opened, impressively opulent Chuan spa, which bases its treatments around traditional Chinese medicine. london.langhamhotels.co.uk
