Shawbrook has hired a new managing director of consumer finance, announcing in a statement this morning that Evelyn Hamilton has joined the challenger from Lloyds Banking Group.

Hamilton becomes just the latest high-profile hire for the challenger, which floated on the London Stock Exchange last April.

The bank announced last autumn that it had poached Santander's then-head of UK banking – Steve Pateman – to be its new chief executive.

Hamilton, who started at Lloyds in 2007, was most recently director of Lloyds' personal loans division, where she managed a 10-figure loan book.

Hamilton was previously a director of Lloyds' credit card and asset finance businesses. Before that, she held senior roles at Santander and Barclays.

Commenting on this morning's announcement, Pateman said: "Evelyn has an outstanding record in consumer lending and I am delighted that she has joined Shawbrook.

"She combines significant experience and knowledge of UK consumer lending with an absolute focus on delivering excellent customer service and will help us to expand our offering in this market."
