A CHANCE TO DRESS UP: NOW THAT’S WORTH CELEBRATING
WOMEN come into their own during Christmas party season – it’s a non-stop party and that means a non-stop fashion parade. There’s something about wearing a frock that makes you feel good, in the mood, flirty and pretty. Dressing up, especially at Christmas, gives you that sense of occasion and makes you feel “Christmassy”.
Wearing a frock is a liberating experience, it says “I’m a woman and I know how to enjoy myself”. You only have to slip on a dress and you’re transformed from mother to vamp, from work girl to debutante, from shygirl to showgirl, and it feels good.
Life these days is so underdressed, so casual, so underwhelming. Now is the time for you to shine. Cast this year’s troubles aside and have some fun. This year more than any I can remember, frocks rock. There are long slender maxi dresses from French Connection, vintage 50s glamour styles, slinky Lanvin must-haves from H&M, posh frocks, flirty frocks and ubiquitous LBDs (little black dresses). Complete the experience with sexy undies, glossy lips and more than a waft of perfume, and before you’ve even left home you’ll be floating on air.
If you’ve forgotten how to wear a dress, and your legs have been hidden for weeks, get them out this Christmas. Choose a frock that fits you well, and flatters your best bits, in a colour that’s going to take you anywhere. The key is to find “that dress” that you know you look fabulous in, and makes you feel like dancing.
SEQUINS AND VINTAGE ARE IN
In terms of trend, anything sequinny is always a good bet and those of you that love vintage are in luck – gowns with that retro twist; long, clingy dresses with frills and elegant folds are great for glamour. If you’re feeling more conservative, my advice is always to take an elegant, understated dress and jazz it up with accessories – gorgeous big cuffs, a long gem-laden necklace, or fabulous chandelier earrings.
