Chaotic Brexit planning has cost Tories’ “party of business” mantle, Labour business minister claims
Labour's shadow business secretary will today accuse Conservatives of giving up their mantle as the party of business, hitting out over chaotic Brexit planning.
Speaking at the Royal Society of Chemistry today, Clive Lewis will promise businesses a clear industrial strategy, led by an ambitious goal on renewables.
Lewis will commit Labour to a goal of generating 60 per cent of energy from renewable sources by 2030.

“It’s not just about tackling climate change. It is about energy security in an increasingly insecure world,” he is expected to say.
“Breaking ahead in rapidly expanding markets for green technologies, creating hundreds of thousands of good manufacturing jobs and boosting productivity in the process.
“It is about reducing our reliance on dirty, imported fuels and becoming a net exporter of energy and energy technologies.”

He will describe the reform as part of a “New Deal” for business.
“[It is] a contract between Government, business and workers. An agreement to change how we do business with each other,” he will say.
