Cheer up! We all know the old stereotype about Londoners being an unfriendly bunch, but it turns out it's true, as the capital is home to some of the grumpiest folk in Britain.
While rent prices aren't rising as sharply in Greater London compared to the centre, it seems a life in the zones isn't all fun and games. New research has shown that five London districts are officially the grumpiest places in UK.
Barking was crowned the most down-and-out London suburb, while Dagenham, Edgeware, Southall and Greenford also made the top 10 of Britain's most miserable places.
The study, from up-market dating site Elite Singles, analysed survey data after asking the site's users how much they agreed with the phrase: "I laugh often".

Men were found to be more humourless than women, as the average women said they laugh a fair amount, but both men and women living in Barking made it into the grumpy power list.
