City braced for further disruption
LONDON is set for another round of travel chaos today, as London Underground (LU) and the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union refused to budge on a dispute over pay.
LU said last night they were “almost waiting at the table” for RMT to enter talks, while the union said it was the employer who was “stalling.”
Commuters can again seek travel advice at tubes all over the city, where staff will hand out maps.
Buses will be running with extra capacity, while Oyster cards will be accepted on all mainline rail services.
Fixed-fare shared taxi services will again run at Waterloo, Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Marylebone, Paddington and Euston.
Five escorted cycle routes will be lead from Finsbury, Mile End Green Bridge, Ravenscourt Park, Brixton Road and Swiss Cottage from 7.45am. The mayor has set up extra cycle parking around the city.
Commuters can also travel on the river, as existing services are boosted from a capacity of 1,500 an hour to 8,000 an hour, including a free shuttle from London Bridge to London Tower.
