Today's City Moves cover tax, asset management and legal eagles. Take a look at these movers and shakers:

Deloitte

Deloitte has appointed Willo Renehan as a tax partner to its private markets team. Willo will be based in London, specialising in private businesses and focusing on building relationships with large privately held groups and FTSE 350 companies. Willo was previously a partner at PwC, where he spent four years leading their Aberdeen tax team and supporting a wide range of energy clients. Previous to this, he worked with private businesses for 20 years, and spent some of this time in Australia working with a large mining company. In his new role, Willo will use his experience in the energy and tech sectors, working with clients to improve tax governance and assisting them with their international growth.

RBC GAM

RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) has announced the appointment of Jeff Masom as global head of institutional distribution. Jeff will be based in Boston and report to Mike Lee, global head of institutional business at RBC GAM. Jeff has over 20 years of investment management industry experience with a focus on leading sales teams, previously as the senior managing director and head of US sales for Legg Mason. He has held a variety of roles throughout his career, including directing institutional sales, managing offshore sales and service, and managing sales for defined contribution, sub-advisory and national accounts. Most recently, he managed a 200-plus employee organisation. Jeff was also a senior member of the product strategy and innovation committees and the global leadership team.

Dechert

Dechert LLP has significantly strengthened its life sciences, corporate and private equity practices with the hire of Robert Darwin as partner in the firm’s London office from Hogan Lovells. Robert has a broad international practice focused on M&A and private equity deals for corporates, funds and other private investors. He executes complex and strategic transactions for clients across a wide range of sectors and has deep expertise with work relating to life sciences and healthcare. The Legal 500 has noted he is “hardworking, conscientious and commercial.” His expansive private equity, M&A and life sciences experience will strengthen Dechert’s growing global platform. Robert’s hire is the third strategic lateral hire in London in as many months. In July, premier commercial litigator Dorothy Cory-Wright joined Dechert as head of its commercial disputes practice in London. In June, former senior US federal prosecutor Roger Burlingame joined the firm’s global investigations and white collar crime practice.
