City Moves for 2 April – who’s moving jobs at Powell Gilbert, Stobart and Ashurst?

Here are all the City Moves happening today:

Powell Gilbert

Specialist IP law firm Powell Gilbert LLP has promoted Siddharth Kusumakar to its partnership, increasing the total number of partners at the firm to ten. Since joining Powell Gilbert in 2012, Siddharth has advised clients across a variety of technologies, with a focus on multi-jurisdictional patent litigation in the pharma, biotechnology and medical devices fields.

He has represented clients in some of the most high-profile cases to come before the UK patents court in recent years, most notably in Warner Lambert v Actavis in the Supreme Court. He also has significant experience in the coordination of patent litigation strategies across Europe and North America.

Siddharth’s academic and research background in immunology enables him to advise clients on the complex disputes arising from emerging technologies in the life sciences sector. Penny Gilbert, partner at Powell Gilbert, said Siddarth was “an outstanding litigator and a first rate client adviser, with a wealth of experience and invaluable technical expertise.

Stobart Group

Stobart Group, the aviation, energy and civil engineering group, has appointed of Lewis Girdwood as chief financial officer and executive director. Since 2017 Lewis has served as the finance boss to IAG Cargo, which provides global cargo services to British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and other IAG airlines.

Prior to that, he was head of financial planning and analysis at Easyjet, responsible for financial business partnering across the airline. Lewis has also held senior finance roles at Premier Foods , British Bakeries and Racal Electronics.

Interim chief financial officer Michael Williamson will step down from his position following a short handover. Warwick Brady, the boss of Stobart Group, said: “I am delighted that Lewis is joining Stobart Group. He will bring a wealth of relevant experience as we continue to implement our ambitious growth plans”.

Ashurst

International law firm Ashurst has announced the appointment of partner Andrea Caputo in the real estate team Milan. Andrea joins from Freshfields where he has worked since joining from Delli Santi & Partners in 2005.

He has over 16 years' experience in advising clients on significant transactions involving the acquisition, disposal and letting (including long term leases and lease-back structures) of large scale retail, office and logistics portfolios, including through real estate investment funds.

Andrea has also advised international and domestic investment and corporate clients on the development of real estate projects and has also been active in the negotiation of construction contracts and corporate joint ventures.
