CITY MOVES Who’s switching jobs

Bank of New York Mellon
The banking group has appointed Timothy F. Kearney as its new head of global client management and chairman of Europe.

Kearney will also retain his existing role as co-chief executive of BNY Mellon asset servicing, though he will relocate from New York to London to take up his new position.

He also previously served as head of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region at the firm.

Tenon
Andrew Hubbard, national tax policy director at the entrepreneur-focused accountancy firm, has been appointed as president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, a position he will hold for one year.

Hubbard began his career at the Inland Revenue as an inspector of taxes, and joined one of the businesses that became part of Tenon in 1999. He will continue in his role at the firm throughout his tenure at the CIOT.

Abbey Corporate Banking
Jonathan Dyer has been appointed as regional managing director of UK corporate banking at the group, with responsibility for managing Abbey and Alliance & Leicester’s corporate banking business across the North of England, Scotland, North Wales and Northern Ireland.

Dyer was previously head of corporate banking for AIB Capital Markets in the North of England, and has also held roles at NM Rothschild and NatWest Markets.

Akin Gump
The law firm has hired investment funds lawyer Ash Gulati as its senior counsel in London.

Gulati joins from UBS, where he was head of the prime brokerage and equity derivatives legal team. In addition to being a specialist hedge funds and prime brokerage lawyer, he has led legal coverage of a wide range of structured equity derivative transactions.

SkyePharma
The Aim-listed aviation firm has appointed Dr Thomas Werner to its board as a non-executive director.

Werner, 52, has over 26 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, most recently as managing director and senior vice-president of GlaxoSmithKline Germany. He has also previously held senior positions at GlaxoWellcome, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Convatec.

Imaginatik
The software firm has appointed Geoffrey Charlton Carss, 47, as executive vice president, responsible for sales, marketing and professional services.

Carss has been with the firm since 2007. Prior to that, he was a partner at IBM Business Consulting Services and also worked at computer firm Compaq, information management specialist Hedra and accountancy firm Ernst & Young.
