CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Nomura
The Japanese banking group has hired Peter Westaway, a Bank of England veteran, as its new chief economist for Europe.
Westaway previously spent 13 years at the Bank in senior roles, covering macro economic forecasting, policy and financial market analysis.
He also spent time working at the UK Treasury and the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR).
HM Treasury
Michael Ellam has been appointed at the Treasury as managing director, international and Europe, replacing Stephen Pickford, who steps down at the end of the year.
Ellam joined the Treasury in 1993 as an economist in the international finance directorate, having previously worked in the City and academia. He also spent two years on secondment to the Foreign Office and was the Number 10 director of communications and the Prime Minister’s official spokesman between 2007 and 2009.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
The law firm has appointed Ludwig Leyendecker as sole leader for the global private equity group.
Former co-heads Chris Bown and Nils Koffka move to other roles; Bown as the new head of the London corporate team focused on private equity, and Koffka as co-head of the global infrastructure and transport group.
KPMG
The accountancy firm has appointed Blair McCallum as a partner in the European operational strategy group.
McCallum joins from private equity firm 3i, where he was also a partner. He also previously worked as a partner at management consultancy McKinsey, where he was a founder and core leader of the firm’s operations practice.
Impax Asset Management
The environmental asset management group has appointed Allan McKenzie as chairman of Impax Asian Environmental Markets, upon completion of the company’s IPO in mid-October.
Prior to his retirement in 2006, McKenzie was chief operating officer and a managing director of BlackRock International.
