CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Ernst & Young
Ernst & Young is expanding its London and Bermuda business with the promotion of three staff. The insurance practice has admitted Richard Battersby and Jeff Soar as partners and promoted Andy Worth to director. Battersby will become the transactions advisory partner, Soar (pictured) will be providing tax services to Lloyd’s and London market clients while Worth has been promoted to director and will manage client accounts.
Barclays Wealth
Barclays Wealth has taken on Jaime Aquello for the newly created position of head of multi-manager and third party funds within the firm’s investment and product office. Aquello has been working in financial markets for over 20 years and most recently headed up Pictet & Cie’s third party mutual funds offering, growing it successfully into a multi-billion business.
Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley has appointed Neville Godley as vice president of the retail structured products distribution team. Godley was previously head of distribution at Quantum, where he was responsible for structured product sales. Prior to this he spent six years at Gartmore in the strategic partners team. Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Marc Chamberlain said: “I am delighted that Neville has chosen to join Morgan Stanley. He has an excellent, comprehensive knowledge of retail and discretionary environments and will be a tremendous asset to the team.”
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld
International law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has launched an international litigation and arbitration practice in London and has hired Linklater’s head of energy disputes, Justin Williams. Williams is a commercial litigator and arbitrator with wide experience in litigation, international arbitration, mediation and expert determination across a range of international commercial disputes. He has significant experience in disputes with states, including expropriation cases, and has worked on some of the highest profile international oil and gas and energy infrastructure disputes. The English practice is headed by Steve Blakely.
CBCF
Close Brothers Corporate Finance (CBCF), the European independent corporate finance advisers, has appointed Jonathan Tyler as a new managing director to head its chemical sector team, based in London. Jonathan joins CBCF from Houlihan Lokey, where for the past two and a half years he has originated and executed major financial restructuring transactions in the chemicals sector, together with M&A and related advisory processes. He has previously worked for Bear Stearns as well as Goldman Sachs, where he was a top three individually ranked research analyst in investor surveys as head of the chemical research team.
