Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reviewing roads and infrastructure connecting London airports
The aviation watchdog is launching a new review into road access and other infrastructure surrounding Britain’s airports.
A Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson confirmed to Morning Wire yesterday that the CAA will carry out a review into whether existing infrastructure is providing adequate services for customers.
The review, which is expected to take nearly a year, is independent of the government’s work in response to the Airports Commission’s recommendation to expand Heathrow Airport. The government said last month that it was delaying making a decision on whether to build a third runway at Heathrow until at least this summer.
Meanwhile, Stansted Airport finds itself at the centre of an escalating row over its bus services. Terravision, a transport group, has launched legal action against the airport, accusing Stansted of “abusing its position” to force Terravision buses out of the airport. A Stansted spokesperson told Morning Wire the airport “wholly rejects” the “allegations in relation to a tender for the provision of bus services”.
